ततः तु देवताः सर्वाः कार्तिकेय इति ब्रुवन् ।
पुत्रः त्रैलोक्य विख्यातो भविष्यति न संशयः ॥ ॥१-३७-२५॥
tataḥ tu devatāḥ sarvāḥ kārtikeya iti bruvan । putraḥ trailokya vikhyāto bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ ॥ ॥1-37-25॥
Translation
Then all the gods said, "He shall be your son, renowned in the three worlds as 'Kartikeya'; there is no doubt about this."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब सभी देवताओं ने (शर्त स्वीकारते हुए) कहा— "यह 'कार्तिकेय' (नाम से) तीनों लोकों में विख्यात पुत्र होगा, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।"
English Commentary
The gods ratify the agreement, officially bestowing the name 'Kartikeya' upon the child. This implies that while his biological/energetic origins lie with Shiva, Agni, and Ganga, his social and famed identity belongs to his foster mothers, the Krittikas. The assurance 'na saṃśayaḥ' (without doubt) serves as a divine seal on this contract. This moment is pivotal in Hindu mythology as it solidifies the deity's primary epithet. It reflects a cultural nuance where the one who nurtures and sustains life is accorded the highest status of parentage.

देवताओं ने कृत्तिकाओं की शर्त को न केवल स्वीकार किया बल्कि उसे एक वरदान का रूप दे दिया। उन्होंने घोषणा की कि बालक की ख्याति 'कार्तिकेय' नाम से ही होगी। यह नामकरण संस्कार जैसा है जहाँ बालक की पहचान उसकी धात्री माताओं से जोड़ी गई। 'त्रैलोक्य विख्यातो' (तीनों लोकों में प्रसिद्ध) कहकर देवताओं ने बालक के उज्ज्वल भविष्य और पराक्रम की भविष्यवाणी भी कर दी। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि पालन-पोषण करने वाली माँ का स्थान जन्म देने वाले माता-पिता (शिव/पार्वती/अग्नि/गंगा) के समकक्ष या उससे भी अधिक माना गया है।
