प्रादुर्भूतम् ततः क्षीरम् कृत्तिकानाम् अनुत्तमम् ।
षण्णाम् षड् आननो भूत्वा जग्राह स्तनजम् पयः ॥ ॥१-३७-२८॥
prādurbhūtam tataḥ kṣīram kṛttikānām anuttamam । ṣaṇṇām ṣaḍ ānano bhūtvā jagrāha stanajam payaḥ ॥ ॥1-37-28॥
Translation
Then, excellent milk appeared in the Krittikas. Becoming six-faced, he drank the milk born of their breasts [simultaneously].
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन कृत्तिकाओं के स्तनों में अनुत्तम (सर्वश्रेष्ठ) दूध प्रकट हुआ। उस बालक ने छह मुख वाला होकर उन छहों का स्तन-पान एक साथ किया।
English Commentary
A miraculous physiological event occurs: the Krittikas spontaneously lactate upon accepting the child ('prādurbhūtam... kṣīram'). To honor the agreement that he belongs to all of them equally, and to satiate his immense hunger, the divine child manifests six faces ('ṣaḍ ānano bhūtvā'). This allows him to suckle from all six mothers simultaneously. This iconic imagery of Shanmukha (the six-faced god) symbolizes his capacity to absorb knowledge and energy from all directions and sources. It confirms his divinity, as mere mortals cannot alter their anatomy at will immediately after birth.

यह श्लोक एक अद्भुत चमत्कार का वर्णन करता है। वात्सल्य के कारण कुंआरी कृत्तिकाओं (नक्षत्रों) में दूध उतर आया। उन छहों माताओं को एक साथ संतुष्ट करने के लिए और उनका दूध एक साथ ग्रहण करने के लिए, बालक ने योगबल से 'षडानन' (छह मुख) रूप धारण कर लिया। यह 'षण्मुख' अवतार का मूल है। यह घटना दर्शाती है कि वह बालक जन्म से ही अलौकिक शक्तियों का स्वामी था और किसी भी माता को वंचित नहीं रखना चाहता था। 'अनुत्तमम्' दूध का अर्थ है दिव्य और शक्तिवर्धक दुग्ध।
