शैल पुत्र्या यत् उक्तम् तत् न प्रजाः स्वासु पत्निषु ।
तस्या वचनम् अक्लिष्टम् सत्यम् एव न संशयः ॥ ॥१-३७-६॥
śaila putryā yat uktam tat na prajāḥ svāsu patniṣu । tasyā vacanam akliṣṭam satyam eva na saṃśayaḥ ॥ ॥1-37-6॥
Translation
What the daughter of the mountain (Parvati) has said—that you shall not produce offspring in your own wives—her unwearied word is indeed true; there is no doubt about it.

शैलपुत्री (पार्वती) ने जो शाप दिया है कि तुम अपनी पत्नियों में संतान उत्पन्न नहीं कर सकोगे, उनका वह अमोघ वचन सत्य ही होगा, इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है।
English Commentary
Brahma clarifies here that Uma's (Parvati's) curse cannot be averted. The word uttered by a chaste woman, especially when spoken in the intensity of righteousness and anger, is 'aklishtam' (unfailing/indestructible). Brahma is a realist; he offers no false assurance that he will erase the curse. Instead, he signals towards finding a solution within the boundaries of that curse. This reflects a key aspect of Indian philosophy: even the Creator does not negate the effects of karma and powerful vows, but rather finds an alternative path through them.

ब्रह्माजी यहाँ स्पष्ट करते हैं कि उमा (पार्वती) का शाप टाला नहीं जा सकता। सती साध्वी के मुख से निकला हुआ वचन, विशेषकर जब वह क्रोध और धर्म के आवेश में कहा गया हो, वह 'अक्लिष्टम्' (अमोघ/कभी निष्फल न होने वाला) होता है। ब्रह्माजी यथार्थवादी हैं; वे झूठा आश्वासन नहीं देते कि वे शाप को मिटा देंगे। इसके बजाय, वे उस शाप की सीमाओं के भीतर रहकर ही समाधान खोजने की ओर संकेत करते हैं। यह भारतीय दर्शन का एक महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष है कि कर्म और वचन के प्रभाव को स्वयं विधाता भी नहीं काटते, बल्कि उसका विकल्प खोजते हैं।
