Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विश्वामित्र वचः श्रुत्वा कथान्ते रघुनंदन ।
उवाच परम प्रीतो मुनिम् दीप्तम् इव अनलम् ॥ ॥१-३९-१॥
viśvāmitra vacaḥ śrutvā kathānte raghunandana । uvāca parama prīto munim dīptam iva analam ॥ ॥1-39-1॥
Translation
Hearing the words of Vishvamitra at the end of the story, Raghunandana (Rama), extremely pleased, spoke to the Sage who was glowing like fire.

कथा के अंत में विश्वामित्र के वचन सुनकर, रघुनंदन (राम) अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और अग्नि के समान तेजस्वी मुनि से बोले।
English Commentary
This verse serves as a narrative bridge. Rama is delighted ('parama prito') by the history of his ancestors. His reaction characterizes him as an eager and respectful student. Sage Vishvamitra is compared to a 'blazing fire' ('diptam iva analam'), a classic metaphor for a Brahmin possessing immense spiritual energy (Tejas) derived from asceticism. The dynamic here is warm and interactive; the storyteller glows with the power of his narrative, and the listener glows with the joy of reception. It sets the tone for Rama's subsequent inquiry into the details of the sacrifice.
