ते सर्वे हृष्टमनसो राज पुत्रा महाबलाः।
जग्मुर् मही तलम् राम पितुर् वचन यंत्रिताः॥ ॥१-३९-१६॥
Te sarve hṛṣṭamanaso rāja putrā mahābalāḥ। Jagmur mahī talam rāma pitur vacana yantritāḥ। ॥1-39-16॥
Translation
O Rama! Bound by their father's words, all those mighty princes, with cheerful minds, set out across the surface of the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! पिता के वचनों से बँधे (नियंत्रित) वे सभी महाबली राजपुत्र प्रसन्न मन से पृथ्वी तल की ओर चल पड़े।
English Commentary
The verse captures the enthusiasm and obedience of the sons. Describes as Hṛṣṭamanaso (cheerful/delighted), they do not see the digging of the earth as a burden but as an adventure and a chance to serve their father. Pitur vacana yantritāḥ (restrained/guided by father's words) highlights the supreme value of filial obedience in the epic context. They leave with high morale and immense strength (Mahābalāḥ), unaware that their blind adherence to the command "dig until you find it" will lead them to disturb the meditation of Sage Kapila, resulting in their incineration.

विश्वामित्र यहाँ राम को बता रहे हैं कि सगर के पुत्र न केवल बलशाली (महाबलाः) थे, बल्कि आज्ञाकारी भी थे। 'पितुर् वचन यंत्रिताः' (पिता के वचनों से नियंत्रित) वाक्यांश उनकी पितृ-भक्ति को दर्शाता है। वे 'हृष्टमनसो' (प्रसन्न मन वाले) थे, अर्थात उन्हें इस कठिन कार्य में कोई दुख नहीं था, बल्कि वे इसे अपने पौरुष प्रदर्शन का अवसर मान रहे थे। उनका उत्साह ही उनके विनाश का कारण बना, क्योंकि वे बिना विचार किए पृथ्वी को खोदने निकल पड़े। यह श्लोक उस ऊर्जा और वेग को दर्शाता है जिससे वे अपने लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़े।
