Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तु मेधाविनौ दृष्ट्वा वेदेषु परिनिष्टितौ ।
वेदोपबृंहणार्थाय तौ अग्राहयत प्रभुः ॥१-४-६॥
Sa tu medhāvinau dṛṣṭvā vedeṣu pariniṣṭhitau |
Vedopabṛṃhaṇārthāya tau agrāhayata prabhuḥ ॥1-4-6॥
Translation
Having observed those two intelligent brothers (Lava and Kusha), who were already experts in the Vedas, that capable Lord (Valmiki) taught them this epic for the purpose of reinforcing the meaning of the Vedas.

उन्होंने उन दोनों बुद्धिमान भाइयों (लव और कुश) को देखा, जो वेदों में विशेषज्ञ थे, और उस सक्षम प्रभु (वाल्मीकि) ने उन्हें वेदों के अर्थ को सुदृढ़ करने के लिए यह महाकाव्य सिखाया।
