ते तम् प्रदक्षिणम् कृत्वा दिशा पालम् महागजम् ।
मानयन्तो हि ते राम jagmur भित्त्वा रसातलम् ॥ ॥१-४०-१६॥
te tam pradakṣiṇam kṛtwa diśā pālam mahāgajam । mānayanto hi te rāma jagmur bhittvā rasātalam ॥ ॥1-40-16॥
Translation
O Rama! Having circumambulated that great elephant, the guardian of the quarter, and honoring him, they proceeded further, piercing the Rasatala.

हे राम! उन (सगर पुत्रों) ने उस दिशापाल महागज की परिक्रमा की और उसका सम्मान करते हुए, रसातल को भेदते हुए आगे बढ़ गए।
English Commentary
Despite their frantic and aggressive search for the sacrificial horse, Sagara's sons maintained proper protocol when encountering a divine being. They performed pradakshina (circumambulation) and offered respect (manayantah) to the guardian elephant. This behavior highlights their character—they were determined but not devoid of dharma or etiquette. After paying their respects to the guardian of the East, they resumed their arduous task of excavating the Rasatala, moving deeper into the earth.

सगर के पुत्र यद्यपि अश्व की खोज में व्यग्र और उग्र थे, तथापि उन्होंने धर्म और शिष्टाचार का त्याग नहीं किया। विरूपाक्ष को देखकर उन्होंने 'प्रदक्षिणम् कृत्वा' (परिक्रमा करके) और 'मानयन्तो' (सम्मान देकर) अपनी संस्कृति का परिचय दिया। यह दर्शाता है कि वे अशिष्ट नहीं थे; वे वीर थे और दैवीय शक्तियों का आदर करना जानते थे। सम्मान प्रकट करने के पश्चात, वे अपने लक्ष्य (घोड़े की खोज) की ओर पुनः अग्रसर हुए और रसातल को और गहराई तक खोदना जारी रखा।
