Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हयम् च तस्य देवस्य चरन्तम् अविदूरतः ।
प्रहर्षम् अतुलम् प्रप्तः सर्वे ते रघुनंदन ॥ ॥१-४०-२६॥
hayam ca tasya devasya carantam avidūrataḥ । praharṣam atulam praptaḥ sarve te raghunandana ॥ ॥1-40-26॥
Translation
And, O descendant of Raghu, they saw the horse grazing not far from that deity. All of them experienced incomparable joy.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे रघुनंदन! उन्होंने उस देव (कपिल) से थोड़ी ही दूर पर (यज्ञ के) घोड़े को चरते हुए देखा और उन सभी को अतुलनीय हर्ष प्राप्त हुआ।
English Commentary
The object of their quest is finally spotted grazing aviduratah (not far) from the sage. The sight brings them atulam praharsham (incomparable joy). This emotion marks the peak of their journey before the sudden fall. Their joy blinds them to the context; they see the horse but fail to recognize the sanctity of the sage sitting nearby. This lack of discernment—seeing the prize but ignoring the peril—is the tragic flaw that leads to their destruction.

सागर के पुत्रों को अंततः वह वस्तु मिल गई जिसकी उन्हें तलाश थी। कपिल मुनि के पास 'अविदूरतः' (निकट ही) घोड़ा चर रहा था। इसे देखकर उन्हें 'प्रहर्षम् अतुलम्' (असीम आनंद) हुआ। यह आनंद क्षणभंगुर था। वे यह समझने में असफल रहे कि घोड़ा वहां क्यों है; उन्होंने परिस्थिति का विश्लेषण किए बिना केवल अपनी सफलता का उत्सव मनाया। यह श्लोक उनकी अदूरदर्शिता (lack of foresight) को दर्शाता है, क्योंकि वे यह नहीं देख पाए कि घोड़ा एक महाशक्तिशाली ऋषि के संरक्षण में है।
