कापिलम् रूपम् आस्थाय धारयत्य अनिशम् धराम् ।
तस्य कोपाग्निना दग्धा भविष्यंति नृपात्मजाः ॥ ॥१-४०-३॥
kāpilam rūpam āsthāya dhārayaty aniśam dharām । tasya kopāgninā dagdhā bhaviṣyaṃti nṛpātmajāḥ ॥ ॥1-40-3॥
Translation
Assuming the form of Kapila, He eternally supports the earth. By the fire of His anger, the sons of the king will be burnt to ashes.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे (भगवान विष्णु) ही 'कपिल' का रूप धारण करके इस पृथ्वी को निरंतर धारण करते हैं। उन (कपिल मुनि) के क्रोध की अग्नि से वे सभी राजकुमार भस्म हो जाएंगे।
English Commentary
Brahma reveals the mechanism of destiny. Vishnu is present in the netherworld in the form of Sage Kapila, supporting the earth (dhārayaty aniśam). This verse serves two purposes: it identifies Kapila as a divine manifestation (Avatar) rather than just a sage, and it prophesies the exact mode of the princes' death—incineration by the fire of anger (kopāgninā). This calms the Devas because it confirms that the sons of Sagara are unwittingly marching toward a trap set by the Divine itself. Their strength is useless against the spiritual fire of a manifestation of Vishnu.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ ब्रह्मा जी स्पष्ट भविष्यवाणी करते हैं। भगवान विष्णु के अनेक अवतार हैं, जिनमें से एक 'कपिल मुनि' हैं। कपिल सांख्य दर्शन के प्रणेता माने जाते हैं। श्लोक में कहा गया है कि वे 'अनिशम्' (निरंतर/दिन-रात) पृथ्वी को धारण करते हैं (शेषनाग या अपनी योग शक्ति के रूप में)। ब्रह्मा जी देवताओं को बता रहे हैं कि सागर के पुत्र जिस 'चोर' को खोजने जा रहे हैं, वे वास्तव में साक्षात भगवान हैं। उनका विनाश किसी बाहरी सेना से नहीं, बल्कि कपिल मुनि के नेत्रों से निकलने वाली 'कोपाग्नि' (क्रोध की आग) से होगा। यह पहले से तय है, इसलिए देवताओं को चिंता करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
