ततो भित्त्वा महीम् सर्वाम् कृत्वा च अपि प्रदक्षिणम् ।
सहिताः सगराः सर्वे पितरम् वाक्यम् अब्रुवन् ॥ ॥१-४०-७॥
tato bhittvā mahīm sarvām kṛtvā ca api pradakṣiṇam । sahitāḥ sagarāḥ sarve pitaram vākyam abruvan ॥ ॥1-40-7॥
Translation
Then, having split the entire earth and having circumambulated it, all the sons of Sagara together approached their father and spoke these words.

तदनन्तर पूरी पृथ्वी को खोदकर और उसकी परिक्रमा करके, वे सभी सगर-पुत्र एक साथ अपने पिता (राजा सगर) के पास आए और यह वचन बोले।
English Commentary
The princes report back to headquarters. The phrase bhittvā mahīm sarvām (having split the entire earth) confirms the completion of their destructive search on the surface level. Pradakṣiṇam indicates they circled the globe, leaving no stone unturned. They approach their father collectively (sahitāḥ). This moment represents a crucial junction: they have failed to find the horse on the surface. Logic would dictate abandoning the impossible task or assuming divine interference, but the narrative shows them seeking further orders, highlighting their blind obedience and lack of independent wisdom.
