Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स च एनम् अब्रवीत् वाक्यम् वैनतेयो महाबलः ।
मा शुचः पुरुषव्याघ्र वधो अयम् लोक सम्मतः ॥ ॥१-४१-१७॥
Sa ca enam abravīt vākyam vainateyo mahābalaḥ । Mā śucaḥ puruṣavyāghra vadho ayam loka sammataḥ ॥ ॥1-41-17॥
Translation
The mighty son of Vinata (Garuda) spoke these words to him: "Do not grieve, O tiger among men. This slaughter meets with the approval of the worlds."
हिंदी अनुवाद
विनता के पुत्र महाबली गरुड़ ने उनसे (अंशुमान से) यह वचन कहा: "हे पुरुषसिंह! शोक मत करो। इनका वध लोकों द्वारा स्वीकृत (सम्मत) है।"
English Commentary
Garuda delivers a profound message to assuage Anshuman's grief. He declares the death of the princes as loka sammataḥ (approved by the worlds/society). This implies that the Sagara sons, through their arrogance and violent excavation of the earth, had become a burden on the cosmic order. Their destruction by Kapila was not merely an accident, but a necessary act of divine retribution to restore balance. Garuda instructs Anshuman to view this tragedy not through the lens of personal loss, but through the perspective of cosmic justice and Dharma.

गरुड़ का संदेश अत्यंत गंभीर और दार्शनिक है। वे कहते हैं कि यह वध 'लोक सम्मत' है। इसका अर्थ है कि सगर के ६०,००० पुत्रों का अहंकार और पृथ्वी को खोदकर विनाश करना प्रकृति और धर्म के नियमों के विरुद्ध था। उनका विनाश विश्व के संतुलन को बनाए रखने के लिए आवश्यक था। इसलिए, इस पर शोक करना उचित नहीं है। गरुड़ अंशुमान को व्यक्तिगत मोह से ऊपर उठाकर व्यापक धर्म का दृष्टिकोण प्रदान कर रहे हैं। मृत्यु को दंड न मानकर, यहाँ एक दैवीय न्याय के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया गया है।
