कपिलेन अप्रमेयेण दग्धा हि इमे महाबलाः ।
सलिलम् न अर्हसि प्राज्ञ दातुम् एषाम् हि लौकिकम् ॥ ॥१-४१-१८॥
Kapilena aprameyeṇa dagdhā hi ime mahābalāḥ । Salilam na arhasi prājña dātum eṣām hi laukikam ॥ ॥1-41-18॥
Translation
"These mighty ones have been burnt by the immeasurable Kapila. Therefore, O wise one, it is not proper for you to offer them ordinary earthly water."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"इन महाबलियों को अप्रमेय (जिनकी महिमा मापी न जा सके) कपिल मुनि ने भस्म किया है। हे बुद्धिमान! अतः तुम इन्हें लौकिक (साधारण) जल देने के योग्य नहीं हो।"
English Commentary
Garuda explains the metaphysical technicality of the situation. Since the princes were consumed by the wrath of Sage Kapila—described here as aprameyeṇa (immeasurable/inscrutable, an epithet for the Divine)—their spiritual status is heavy with negative merit. Ordinary laukikam (earthly) water is insufficient to cleanse the sins that led to such a death. By calling Anshuman prājña (wise), Garuda invites him to understand that high-level spiritual impurities require a high-level purifying agent. This closes the door on immediate rituals and opens the path for the descent of the Ganges.

यहाँ गरुड़ स्पष्ट करते हैं कि साधारण मृत्यु और दैवीय कोप से हुई मृत्यु में अंतर होता है। कपिल मुनि साक्षात भगवान विष्णु के अंशावतार माने जाते हैं। उनकी क्रोधाग्नि से भस्म हुए प्राणियों की मुक्ति साधारण नदी या सरोवर के जल से संभव नहीं है। 'अप्रमेयेण' शब्द कपिल मुनि की अनंत शक्ति को दर्शाता है। गरुड़ अंशुमान को 'प्राज्ञ' (बुद्धिमान) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, यह संकेत देते हुए कि उन्हें इस सूक्ष्म धर्म-तत्व को समझना चाहिए कि असाधारण पाप या शाप के लिए असाधारण प्रायश्चित की आवश्यकता होती है।
