स तम् प्रदक्षिणम् कृत्वा पृष्ठ्वा चैव निरामयम् ।
पितृइन् स परिपप्रच्छ वाजि हर्तारम् एव च ॥ ॥१-४१-८॥
sa tam pradakṣiṇam kṛtvā pṛṣṭvā caiva nirāmayam । pitṛīn sa paripapraccha vāji hartāram eva ca ॥ ॥1-41-8॥
Translation
Having circumambulated him and enquired about his welfare, he asked about his fathers and the thief of the horse.

उसने उस (गज) की परिक्रमा की और कुशल-क्षेम (निरामयम्) पूछकर, अपने पितरों (चाचाओं) और घोड़े को चुराने वाले के विषय में पूछा।
English Commentary
Anshuman executes the protocol perfectly. He performs pradakshina and asks about the elephant's health (niramayam). Unlike his uncles who moved on quickly to dig further, Anshuman engages the Diggaja in dialogue regarding his quest. He explicitly asks two questions: the whereabouts of his fathers (pitrin) and the identity of the horse thief (vaji hartaram). This shows his investigative approach—seeking information from wise authorities rather than blindly digging.

अंशुमान ने वही शिष्टाचार निभाया जो सगर ने सिखाया था और जो उसके चाचाओं ने भी प्रारंभ में किया था। उसने प्रदक्षिणा की और स्वास्थ्य (निरामयम्) पूछा। इसके बाद, उसने अपने मिशन के बारे में प्रश्न किया—'पितृइन्' (पितरों के बारे में) और 'वाजि हर्तारम्' (घोड़ा चोर के बारे में)। यह संवाद अंशुमान की एकाग्रता को दर्शाता है; वह दिव्य दर्शन से विचलित नहीं हुआ, बल्कि सम्मान प्रकट करते हुए अपने लक्ष्य पर स्थिर रहा।
