Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मनोरथो महान् एष भगीरथ महारथ ।
एवम् भवतु भद्रम् ते इक्ष्वाकु कुल वर्धन ॥ ॥१-४२-२२॥
manoratho mahān eṣa bhagīratha mahāratha । evam bhavatu bhadram te ikṣvāku kula vardhana ॥ ॥1-42-22॥
Translation
O great charioteer (Maharatha) Bhagiratha! This wish of yours is indeed great. Let it be so! May prosperity attend you, O enhancer of the Ikshvaku lineage.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महारथी भगीरथ! तुम्हारा यह मनोरथ महान है। तुम्हारा कल्याण हो! हे इक्ष्वाकु कुल को बढ़ाने वाले! ऐसा ही हो (तुम्हारी इच्छा पूर्ण हो)।
English Commentary
Brahma formally grants the boons with the phrase evam bhavatu (let it be so). He validates Bhagiratha's stature by calling him Maharatha (great warrior/charioteer) and confirms the continuation of his line by addressing him as Ikshvaku kula vardhana (increaser of the Ikshvaku family). Acknowledging the request as mahan (great/noble), Brahma adds bhadram te (may good betide you), a necessary blessing because invoking the celestial Ganga is a perilous task involving cosmic forces, as explained in the subsequent verses.
