प्रायात् अग्रे महातेजा गंग तम् च अपि अनुव्रजत् ।
गगनात् शंकर शिरः ततो धरणिम् आगता ॥ ॥१-४३-१५॥
prāyāt agre mahātejā ganga tam ca api anuvrajat । gaganāt śankara śiraḥ tato dharaṇim āgatā ॥ ॥1-43-15॥
Translation
The resplendent Bhagiratha went ahead, and Ganga followed him. Thus, she came from the sky to Shankara's head, and from there to the earth.

महातेजस्वी भगीरथ आगे-आगे चले और गंगा ने उनका अनुगमन किया। (इस प्रकार) गंगा आकाश से शंकर के मस्तक पर, और वहाँ से पृथ्वी पर आईं।
