व्यलोकयन्त ते तत्र गगनात् गाम् गताम् तदा ।
विमानैः नगर आकारैः हयैः गज वरैः तथा ॥ ॥१-४३-१८॥
vyalokayanta te tatra gaganāt gām gatām tadā । vimānaiḥ nagara ākāraiḥ hayaiḥ gaja varaiḥ tathā ॥ ॥1-43-18॥
Translation
They watched the Ganga, which had gone from the sky to the earth, from their chariots (Vimanas) sized like cities, and from horses and excellent elephants.

वे (देवता आदि) नगर के आकार जितने विशाल विमानों, घोड़ों और श्रेष्ठ हाथियों पर सवार होकर, आकाश से पृथ्वी पर आई हुई गंगा को देखने लगे।
English Commentary
The scale of the celestial observation is immense. The Devas arrive in Vimanas described as nagara akaraih—having the size/shape of cities (immense motherships or floating cities). This conveys the magnitude of the event; it is not a minor miracle but a major cosmic shift. The mention of celestial horses and elephants alongside these massive vehicles paints a picture of a crowded, majestic sky watching the fluid grace of the river touching the soil.

दर्शकों की भव्यता का वर्णन यहाँ किया गया है। देवता जिन विमानों पर आए थे, वे छोटे नहीं थे, बल्कि 'नगर आकारैः' (नगर के आकार के) थे। यह वाल्मीकि रामायण में उन्नत तकनीक या दिव्य वाहनों की विशालता का संकेत देता है। साथ ही श्रेष्ठ घोड़ों और हाथियों (ऐरावत कुल के) का भी उल्लेख है। आकाश मार्ग जाम हो गया था क्योंकि हर कोई इस ऐतिहासिक क्षण का साक्षी बनना चाहता था।
