Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पितामहानाम् सर्वेषाम् कुरुष्व सलिलक्रियाम् ।
स्वस्ति ते अस्तु गमिष्यामि स्वम् लोकम् गम्यताम् नृप ॥१-४४-१५॥
pitāmahānām sarveṣām kuruṣva salilakriyām |
svasti te astu gamiṣyāmi svam lokam gamyatām nṛpa ॥1-44-15॥
Translation
Perform the water rites for all your forefathers. May prosperity be yours. I shall depart to my own realm; you too may proceed to yours, O King.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने सभी पितामहों (पूर्वजों) के लिए जलांजलि (तर्पण) की क्रिया संपन्न करो। तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। मैं अपने लोक (ब्रह्मलोक) को जा रहा हूँ, हे राजन! तुम भी अपने लोक (राज्य) को जाओ।
English Commentary
This verse marks the conclusion of the divine interaction. Brahma gives the final operational instruction: perform the Salilakriya (water rites/libations) for the ancestors, which completes their liberation. He bestows a blessing, 'Svasti te astu' (May auspiciousness be with you/May you be blessed). The instruction is reciprocal—Brahma returns to his divine abode, and he instructs Bhagiratha to return to his own realm, implying his kingdom and kingly duties. This highlights the Dharmic balance; having completed his spiritual quest in the Himalayas and Patala, the King must now return to the material world to rule. The mission is accomplished, the ancestors are saved, and order is restored to the cosmos. It is a moment of closure for the great saga of Ganga's descent.

यह ब्रह्मा जी का विदाई संदेश है। वे भगीरथ को अंतिम निर्देश देते हैं कि वे 'सलिलक्रियाम्' (तर्पण/जलांजलि) करें, जो सगर के ६०,००० पुत्रों की मुक्ति के लिए आवश्यक है। 'स्वस्ति ते अस्तु' (तुम्हारा कल्याण हो) एक मंगलकारी आशीर्वाद है। ब्रह्मा जी यहाँ एक व्यावहारिक और दैवीय संतुलन स्थापित करते हैं—कार्य पूर्ण हो गया है, अब अपने-अपने दायित्वों और स्थानों पर लौटने का समय है। वे स्वयं ब्रह्मलोक जाने की बात कहते हैं और भगीरथ को अपने राज्य (अयोध्या/प्रशासन) लौटने की आज्ञा देते हैं। यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धियों के बाद एक राजा को अपने राजधर्म और प्रजा के पालन हेतु वापस लौटना आवश्यक है। वैराग्य और कर्तव्य के बीच का यह संतुलन भारतीय दर्शन का मूल है।
