Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अथ तस्य कृते राम महान् आसीत् कुल क्षयः ।
अदितेः तु ततः पुत्रा दितेः पुत्रान् असूदयन् ॥ ॥१-४५-४०॥
atha tasya kṛte rāma mahān āsīt kula kṣayaḥ |
aditeḥ tu tataḥ putrā diteḥ putrān asūdayan ॥1-45-40॥
Translation
O Rama! Then, for the sake of that (Amrita), a great destruction of the race occurred. The sons of Aditi then destroyed the sons of Diti.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! उस (अमृत) के लिए (दोनों पक्षों में) महान कुल-क्षय (भयंकर युद्ध/विनाश) हुआ। तब अदिति के पुत्रों ने दिति के पुत्रों का संहार किया।
English Commentary
Paradoxically, the appearance of the Nectar of Immortality triggers a massive loss of life (kula kshaya). This verse marks the breakdown of the tenuous alliance formed for the churning. As soon as the goal was achieved, cooperation turned into competition. Vishvamitra narrates this to Rama as a lesson in Rajneeti (politics): alliances based on convenience often dissolve into conflict the moment the shared objective is secured.

अमृत प्राप्ति शांति नहीं, बल्कि संघर्ष लेकर आई। 'कुल क्षयः' (वंश का नाश) एक भारी शब्द है, जो बताता है कि अमरता के लोभ में भयंकर रक्तपात हुआ। विडंबना यह है कि जीवन देने वाले अमृत के लिए मृत्यु का तांडव हुआ। यह श्लोक सत्ता संघर्ष की वास्तविकता को दर्शाता है—संसाधन (Resource) मिलते ही गठबंधन टूट जाते हैं और युद्ध आरंभ हो जाता है।
