Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् भवतु भद्रम् ते शुचिः भव तपोधने ।
जनयिष्यसि पुत्रम् त्वम् शक्र हन्तारम् आहवे ॥ ॥१-४६-५॥
Evam bhavatu bhadram te śuciḥ bhava tapodhane । Janayiṣyasi putram tvam śakra hantāram āhave ॥ ॥1-46-5॥
Translation
"Let it be so. May good betide you. Remain pure, O you whose wealth is penance. You shall generate a son who will be the slayer of Shakra in battle."

"ऐसा ही हो। तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। हे तपोधने! तुम पवित्र (शुचि) बनी रहो। (यदि तुम ऐसा कर सकीं तो) तुम युद्ध में शक्र (इन्द्र) को मारने वाले पुत्र को जन्म दोगी।"
English Commentary
Sage Kashyapa grants the boon but attaches a critical caveat: Shuchih Bhava (remain pure). This condition acts as a cosmic fail-safe. While he blesses her to have an Indra-slayer, the requirement for absolute purity—physical, mental, and ceremonial—is incredibly difficult to maintain over a long period. By addressing her as Tapodhane (one whose wealth is penance), he acknowledges her resolve but essentially sets a trial. If she falters in her purity, the destiny of the child could be altered, thereby offering a subtle protection for Indra.

महर्षि कश्यप दिति की प्रार्थना स्वीकार तो करते हैं, लेकिन एक अत्यंत कठिन शर्त के साथ—'शुचिः भव' (पवित्र रहो)। यह केवल शारीरिक स्वच्छता नहीं, बल्कि मानसिक और आध्यात्मिक पवित्रता की भी शर्त है। कश्यप जी 'तपोधने' कहकर दिति को प्रोत्साहित करते हैं कि उनका धन अब उनकी तपस्या ही है। यह वरदान एक द्वारी (loophole) के साथ दिया गया है; यदि दिति अपनी पवित्रता में तनिक भी चूक करती हैं, तो वरदान का फल बदल सकता है। यह ऋषियों की वाक-चातुर्य और धर्म के रक्षण की विधि है।
