अलंबुषायाम् उत्पन्नो विशाल इति विश्रुतः ।
तेन च आसीत् इह स्थाने विशाले इति पुरी कृता ॥१-४७-१२॥
alambuṣāyām utpanno viśāla iti viśrutaḥ । tena ca āsīt iha sthāne viśāle iti purī kṛtā ॥1-47-12॥
Translation
...Who was born of Alambusha and was known as Vishala. By him, this city named Vishala was built at this place.

...जो 'विशाल' नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ और अलंबुषा (अप्सरा) के गर्भ से उत्पन्न हुआ था। उसी (राजा विशाल) ने इस स्थान पर 'विशाला' नाम की पुरी (नगरी) बसाई थी।
English Commentary
This verse provides the etymology and founding history of the city Vishala (identified with modern Vaishali, Bihar). The founder, King Vishala, was a son of Ikshvaku (making him a collateral ancestor/relative of Rama) and the celestial nymph (Apsara) Alambusha. This semi-divine parentage implies the dynasty possessed extraordinary qualities. Establishing the city here connects the earlier sanctity of Indra's presence with the later civilization built by Ikshvaku's progeny.

यह श्लोक विशाला नगरी (वर्तमान वैशाली, बिहार) की नींव के बारे में बताता है। राजा का नाम 'विशाल' था, जो इक्ष्वाकु के पुत्र थे और उनकी माता एक अप्सरा 'अलंबुषा' थीं। अप्सरा से उत्पन्न होने के कारण इस वंश के राजाओं में विशेष रूप और बल माना जाता था। अपनी राजधानी का नाम अपने नाम पर रखना प्राचीन राजाओं की प्रथा थी। यह नगरी रामायण काल में बहुत समृद्ध मानी जाती थी।
