Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उवाच प्रांजलिः वाक्यम् दितिम् बलसूदनः ।
सर्वम् एतत् यथा उक्तम् ते भविष्यति न संशयः ॥१-४७-८॥
uvāca prāñjaliḥ vākyam ditim balasūdanaḥ । sarvam etat yathā uktam te bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ ॥1-47-8॥
Translation
...Balasudana (Indra), with folded hands, spoke these words to Diti: "All this shall happen exactly as you have said; there is no doubt about it."
हिंदी अनुवाद
...बलसूदन (इंद्र) ने हाथ जोड़कर दिति से यह वाक्य कहा—"आपने जैसा कहा है, यह सब वैसा ही होगा, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।"
English Commentary
Indra ratifies the agreement with a gesture of humility (pranjali). This concludes the cosmic treaty. Despite holding the superior position as the victor and King of Devas, Indra agrees to all of Diti's terms without negotiation. This reflects the code of conduct where a victor must be magnanimous, especially towards a family elder. By saying "there is no doubt," he seals the destiny of the Maruts as wind gods forever.

इंद्र 'प्रांजलि' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) मुद्रा में अपनी स्वीकृति देते हैं। यह एक औपचारिक संधि (treaty) का समापन है। इंद्र, जो देवताओं के राजा हैं, एक असुर माता के वचनों का पालन करने की प्रतिज्ञा कर रहे हैं। यह रामायण में बड़ों के प्रति मर्यादा का एक उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। यद्यपि वे विजयी थे, उन्होंने अपनी सौतेली माँ की इच्छा का सम्मान किया और मरुतों को देव-पद प्रदान किया।
