पद्म पत्र विशालाक्षौ खड्ग तूणी धनुर् धरौ ।
अश्विनौ इव रूपेण समुपस्थित यौवनौ ॥१-४८-३॥
padma patra viśālākṣau khaḍga tūṇī dhanur dharau । aśvinau iva rūpeṇa samupasthita yauvanau ॥1-48-3॥
Translation
"Their eyes are large like lotus petals. They bear swords, quivers, and bows. In beauty, they are like the Ashvini Kumaras, and they are in the prime of blooming youth."

"इनके नेत्र कमल की पंखुड़ी के समान विशाल हैं। ये तलवार (खड्ग), तरकश (तूणी) और धनुष धारण किए हुए हैं। रूप में ये अश्विनीकुमारों के समान हैं और इनका यौवन अभी आरंभ हुआ है।"
English Commentary
Padma patra vishalakshau (eyes like lotus petals) is a standard epithet for divine beauty, often associated with Vishnu. Sumati notes the incongruity of sages carrying weapons (swords, bows). The comparison to the Ashvini Kumaras (the twin physicians of the gods) highlights their exceptional physical beauty and symmetry. Samupasthita yauvanau indicates they are on the threshold of manhood, radiating the energy and charisma of early youth.

'पद्म पत्र विशालाक्षौ' (कमल-नयन) विष्णु और उनके अवतारों का शास्त्रीय लक्षण है। राजा सुमति इनके अस्त्र-शस्त्र (खड्ग, धनुष) देखकर चकित हैं क्योंकि वे ऋषि के साथ हैं। 'अश्विनौ इव' (अश्विनी कुमारों जैसे) की उपमा जुड़वां होने या अत्यधिक सुंदर होने के कारण दी गई है। 'समुपस्थित यौवनौ' का अर्थ है कि वे बालपन छोड़कर किशोरावस्था/यौवन में प्रवेश कर चुके हैं—जो युद्ध और प्रेम दोनों के लिए उपयुक्त आयु है।
