Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रामो अपि परमाम् पूजाम् गौतमस्य महामुनेः ।
सकाशात् विधिवत् प्राप्य जगाम मिथिलाम् ततः ॥ ॥१-४९-२२॥
Rāmo api paramām pūjām gautamasya mahāmuneḥ । Sakāśāt vidhivat prāpya jagāma mithilām tataḥ ॥ ॥1-49-22॥
Translation
Rama, too, having received the highest honors from the great sage Gautama according to the rites, departed from there towards Mithila.

राम ने भी महामुनि गौतम के पास से विधिपूर्वक परम सत्कार प्राप्त किया और तदनंतर वहां से मिथिला की ओर प्रस्थान किया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the transition from the hermitage of Gautama to the city of Janaka. Rama accepts the honors (Paramam pujam) from Gautama not out of pride, but as a reciprocal protocol of respect between the spiritual authority (Sage) and the temporal power (Prince). His immediate departure signifies his focus on the mission ahead. He does not linger in the glory of the miracle he just performed. This detachment is characteristic of Rama throughout the epic—he acts perfectly in the moment and then moves forward to the next duty.

यह श्लोक 'अहल्या-उद्धार' प्रकरण का औपचारिक समापन है। राम ने वहां रुककर अपनी प्रशंसा का आनंद नहीं लिया। कर्त्तव्य पूरा होते ही उन्होंने प्रस्थान किया, जो एक 'कर्मयोगी' का लक्षण है। 'मिथिलाम् जगाम' के साथ कथा अब अगले महत्वपूर्ण पड़ाव—सीता स्वयंवर और धनुष भंग—की ओर बढ़ती है। गौतम ऋषि द्वारा राम का सत्कार यह सिद्ध करता है कि राम का कार्य धर्म सम्मत था और ऋषियों का आशीर्वाद उनके साथ था।
