ततः प्राक् उत्तराम् गत्वा रामः सौमित्रिणा सह ।
विश्वामित्रम् पुरस्कृत्य यज्ञ वाटम् उपागमत् ॥ ॥१-५०-१॥
Tataḥ prāk uttarām gatvā rāmaḥ saumitriṇā saha । Viśvāmitram puraskṛtya yajña vāṭam upāgamat ॥ ॥1-50-1॥
Translation
Then, heading in the north-eastern direction, Rama, along with the son of Sumitra (Lakshmana), placing Vishwamitra at the forefront, approached the sacrificial enclosure.

तदनंतर, राम और लक्ष्मण (सौमित्रि) ने विश्वामित्र को आगे करके पूर्व-उत्तर (ईशान कोण) दिशा की ओर प्रस्थान किया और (जनक के) यज्ञ-बाड़े (Yajna Enclosure) के पास पहुँचे।
English Commentary
The journey continues towards Mithila. The specific mention of the "North-East" (Prag-uttaram) direction adds geographical realism to the narrative, aligning with the location of Mithila relative to the Ganges region. Once again, the protocol of placing the Guru in front (Puraskritya) is observed. Entering a sacrificial arena (Yajna Vatam) requires spiritual authorization, and Vishwamitra serves as their guide and entry pass into this high-profile gathering of Vedic scholars and kings.

दिशा 'प्राक् उत्तराम्' (ईशान कोण - North-East) का उल्लेख भौगोलिक सटीकता को दर्शाता है। गौतम आश्रम से मिथिला इसी दिशा में थी। यहाँ पुनः 'विश्वामित्रम् पुरस्कृत्य' (विश्वामित्र को आगे रखकर) का प्रयोग हुआ है। राम और लक्ष्मण, यद्यपि राजकुमार हैं, यज्ञशाला में गुरु के अनुयायी के रूप में प्रवेश करते हैं। 'यज्ञ वाट' उस विशाल क्षेत्र को कहते हैं जहाँ यज्ञ के लिए मंडप और वेदियों का निर्माण किया गया था।
