Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रामः तु मुनि शार्दूलम् उवाच सह लक्ष्मणः ।
साध्वी यज्ञ समृद्धिः हि जनकस्य महात्मनः ॥ ॥१-५०-२॥
Rāmaḥ tu muni śārdūlam uvāca saha lakṣmaṇaḥ । Sādhvī yajña samṛddhiḥ hi janakasya mahātmanaḥ ॥ ॥1-50-2॥
Translation
Rama, along with Lakshmana, said to the tiger among munis (Vishwamitra), "Indeed, the prosperity and arrangement of the sacrifice of the great-souled Janaka is excellent."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब राम ने लक्ष्मण सहित मुनि-श्रेष्ठ (विश्वामित्र) से कहा—"महात्मा जनक के यज्ञ की समृद्धि और व्यवस्था अत्यंत उत्तम (साध्वी) है।"
English Commentary
Upon arriving, Rama immediately notices the scale and magnificence of the event. Addressing Vishwamitra, he appreciates the Yajna Samriddhi (prosperity/grandeur of the sacrifice). This observation establishes Janaka's status not just as a philosopher-king, but as a wealthy and capable ruler who conducts ceremonies with perfection. Rama's comment acts as an opening statement, setting the stage for the grandeur of Mithila that will unfold.

राम यहाँ एक पर्यवेक्षक (observer) की भूमिका में हैं। यज्ञशाला में प्रवेश करते ही वह वहाँ की भव्यता और समृद्धि से प्रभावित होते हैं। 'साध्वी' शब्द का अर्थ यहाँ 'बहुत सुंदर' या 'दोषरहित' व्यवस्था से है। राजा जनक 'विदेह' कहलाते थे और ज्ञानमार्गी थे, किन्तु उनका यज्ञ कर्मकांडीय रूप से भी कितना विशाल और समृद्ध था, यह राम की इस टिप्पणी से पता चलता है। यह जनक के ऐश्वर्य और भक्ति दोनों का प्रमाण है।
