आसने भगवान् आस्ताम् सह एभिः मुनि सत्तमैः ।
जनकस्य वचः श्रुत्वा निषसाद महामुनिः ॥ ॥१-५०-११॥
Āsane bhagavān āstām saha ebhiḥ muni sattamaiḥ । Janakasya vacaḥ śrutvā niṣasāda mahāmuniḥ ॥ ॥1-50-11॥
Translation
(Janaka said) "O Divine One! Please take a seat along with these excellent sages." Hearing Janaka's words, the great sage sat down.

(जनक ने कहा) "हे भगवन! इन मुनि-श्रेष्ठों के साथ आप आसन ग्रहण करें।" जनक के वचन सुनकर महामुनि विश्वामित्र बैठ गए।
English Commentary
Following traditional hospitality, Janaka invites Vishwamitra to be seated. The address Bhagavan (Divine One) elevates Vishwamitra's stature. The phrase Saha ebhih (along with these) implies that Vishwamitra is offered a place of honor among his peers. Vishwamitra’s compliance (Nishasada) signals the commencement of the formal dialogue.

भारतीय परंपरा में, अतिथि तब तक खड़ा नहीं रहता जब तक उसे बैठने का आग्रह न किया जाए, और मेज़बान तब तक नहीं बैठता जब तक अतिथि न बैठ जाए। जनक विश्वामित्र को 'भगवान' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं और उन्हें अन्य ऋषियों के साथ आसन ग्रहण करने का निवेदन करते हैं। यह दृश्य यज्ञ मंडप में एक औपचारिक सभा (courtly assembly) जैसा है।
