गज तुल्य गती वीरौ शार्दूल वृषभ उपमौ ।
पद्म पत्र विशाल अक्षौ खड्ग तूणी धनुर् धरौ ।
अश्विनौ इव रूपेण समुपस्थित यौवनौ ॥ ॥१-५०-१८॥
Gaja tulya gatī vīrau śārdūla vṛṣabha upamau । Padma patra viśāla akṣau khaḍga tūṇī dhanur dharau । Aśvinau iva rūpeṇa samupasthita yauvanau ॥ ॥1-50-18॥
Translation
"They have the gait of an elephant; they resemble tigers and bulls (in strength). Their eyes are large like lotus petals. They carry swords, quivers, and bows. In beauty, they are like the Ashvini Kumaras, and they are just on the threshold of youth."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"इनकी चाल हाथी के समान (मस्त) है, ये वीर बाघ और सांड के समान (शक्तिशाली) हैं। इनके नेत्र कमल की पंखुड़ी जैसे विशाल हैं। ये तलवार, तरकश और धनुष धारण किए हुए हैं। रूप में ये अश्विनीकुमारों के समान हैं और अभी-अभी यौवन में प्रवेश कर रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Janaka provides a vivid description of the princes using classical heroic imagery. The comparisons to an elephant (Gaja), tiger (Shardula), and bull (Vrishabha) denote majesty, fearlessness, and virility. The "lotus-eyed" description is a hallmark of divine beauty in Indian literature. Comparing them to the Ashvini Kumaras (the twin physicians of the gods) emphasizes their incredible beauty and their duality/companionship. They are described as Samupasthita yauvanau—just entering adolescence.
