ऋषि वाटाः च दृश्यन्ते शकटी शत संकुलाः ।
देशो विधीयताम् ब्रह्मन् यत्र वत्स्यामहे वयम् ॥ ॥१-५०-४॥
Ṛṣi vāṭāḥ ca dṛśyante śakaṭī śata saṃkulāḥ । Deśo vidhīyatām brahman yatra vatsyāmahe vayam ॥ ॥1-50-4॥
Translation
"The encampments of the Rishis are seen crowded with hundreds of carts. O Brahman! Please determine a place where we shall stay."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"ऋषियों के निवास स्थान सैकड़ों छकड़ों (गाड़ियों) से भरे हुए दिखाई दे रहे हैं। हे ब्रह्मन्! (कृपया) वह स्थान निश्चित कीजिये जहाँ हम लोग निवास करेंगे।"
English Commentary
This verse offers a realistic glimpse into the logistics of ancient grand sacrifices. The mention of Shakati shata (hundreds of bullock carts) paints a picture of a bustling camp city. The area is crowded with the entourages of visiting sages. Amidst this chaos, Rama politely asks Vishwamitra to select their campsite. It emphasizes Rama's reliance on Vishwamitra for navigating this social landscape and his adherence to the discipline of not acting without the Guru's direction.

यह श्लोक प्राचीन भारत की 'लॉजिस्टिक्स' (logistics) की झलक देता है। 'शकटी' (बैलगाड़ियाँ) ऋषियों का सामान, यज्ञ सामग्री और शिष्यों को लाने के लिए प्रयुक्त होती थीं। भीड़ इतनी अधिक है कि जगह मिलना कठिन लग रहा है। राम अनुशासन का पालन करते हुए स्वयं जाकर जगह नहीं घेरते, बल्कि गुरु से पूछते हैं—"हम कहाँ रहेंगे?" यह शिष्टाचार और गुरु पर निर्भरता का परिचायक है।
