Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न अतिक्रान्तम् मुनिश्रेष्ठ यत् कर्तव्यम् कृतम् मया ।
संगता मुनिना पत्नी भार्गवेण इव रेणुका ॥ ॥१-५१-११॥
na atikrāntam muniśreṣṭha yat kartavyam kṛtam mayā |
saṃgatā muninā patnī bhārgaveṇa iva reṇukā ॥1-51-11॥
Translation
O best of sages! I have done whatever was necessary; nothing was left undone. The wife (Ahalya) has been reunited with the Sage (Gautama), just as Renuka was reunited with Bhargava (Jamadagni).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे मुनिश्रेष्ठ! जो करना उचित था, मैंने वह सब किया है (कुछ भी शेष नहीं छोड़ा)। जिस प्रकार रेणुका भार्गव (जमदग्नि) से मिली थीं, वैसे ही अहिल्या मुनि गौतम से मिल गई हैं।
English Commentary
Vishwamitra confirms the successful completion of his mission regarding Ahalya. He assures Satananda that he did everything required to facilitate her redemption. The analogy used here is profound: comparing Ahalya's reunion with Gautama to Renuka's reunion with Jamadagni (Bhargava). In mythology, Renuka was killed and later revived, regaining her status; similarly, Ahalya, who was practically lifeless due to the curse, has been "revived" to her former spiritual glory and accepted by her husband. This comparison signifies total purification and the restoration of domestic and spiritual harmony.

विश्वामित्र यहाँ पुष्टि करते हैं कि अहिल्या का उद्धार पूर्ण हो चुका है। यहाँ दी गई उपमा अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है—'भार्गवेण इव रेणुका'। जिस प्रकार ऋषि जमदग्नि की पत्नी रेणुका को परशुराम जी द्वारा वध किए जाने के बाद पुनः जीवनदान मिला और वे अपने पति से मिल सकीं, उसी प्रकार अहिल्या भी शाप मुक्त होकर अपने पति महर्षि गौतम से पुनर्मिलित हो गई हैं। यह तुलना दर्शाती है कि अहिल्या का 'दोष' धुल चुका है और उन्होंने अपना खोया हुआ सम्मान और स्थान पुनः प्राप्त कर लिया है। विश्वामित्र का यह कथन शतानंद के मन के सारे संशयों को समाप्त कर देता है।
