श्रूयताम् च अभिधास्यामि कौशिकस्य महात्मनः ।
यथा बलम् यथा तत्त्वम् तत् मे निगदतः शृणु ॥ ॥१-५१-१६॥
śrūyatām ca abhidhāsyāmi kauśikasya mahātmanaḥ |
yathā balam yathā tattvam tat me nigadataḥ śṛṇu ॥1-51-16॥
Translation
Please listen, as I shall narrate to you about the high-souled Kaushika (Vishwamitra). Listen to me as I describe his true power and his real essence.

अब आप महात्मा कौशिक (विश्वामित्र) के बारे में सुनें, मैं आपको बताता हूँ। इनका बल कैसा है और इनका वास्तविक स्वरूप (तत्त्व) क्या है, मेरे द्वारा कहे जाने पर आप सुनें।
English Commentary
This verse marks the commencement of the flashback narrating Vishwamitra’s history. Satananda invites Rama to listen ("shruyatam") as he expounds upon the "balam" (power) and "tattvam" (true essence) of the great soul Kaushika. Understanding the Guru's background is essential for the disciple to fully appreciate the wisdom being imparted. Satananda intends to reveal the immense struggles and austerities Vishwamitra undertook, setting the stage for one of the most inspiring stories of determination and spiritual evolution in Hindu scripture.
