अन्यैः वैखानसैः चैव समंतात् उपशोभितम् ।
वसिष्ठस्य आश्रम पदम् ब्रह्म लोकम् इव अपरम् ।
ददर्श जयताम् श्रेष्ठ विश्वामित्रो महाबलः ॥ ॥१-५१-२८॥
anyaiḥ vaikhānasaiḥ caiva samantāt upaśobhitam |
vasiṣṭhasya āśrama padam brahma lokam iva aparam |
dadarśa jayatām śreṣṭha viśvāmitro mahābalaḥ ॥1-51-28॥
Translation
It was beautified all around by other sages known as Vaikhanasas. The mighty Vishwamitra, best among conquerors, saw Vashistha's hermitage looking like a second Brahmaloka (Abode of Brahma).

वहाँ अन्य 'वैखानस' ऋषि भी थे, जिनसे वह आश्रम सब ओर से सुशोभित था। विजय पाने वालों में श्रेष्ठ महाबली विश्वामित्र ने वसिष्ठ के उस आश्रम को दूसरे ब्रह्मलोक के समान देखा।
English Commentary
This concluding verse of Sarga 51 introduces the 'Vaikhanasas,' another specific order of hermits known for their strict adherence to Vedic rituals. The visual impact of the ashram on Vishwamitra is profound; he compares it to a 'second Brahmaloka.' The descriptors used for Vishwamitra—'Jayatam shreshtha' (best among victors) and 'Mahabala' (greatly powerful)—are ironic here. He enters as a worldly conqueror, but he is stepping into a realm where his martial strength is irrelevant compared to the spiritual majesty he perceives.

इस सर्ग (५१) का यह अंतिम श्लोक है। यहाँ 'वैखानस' ऋषियों का उल्लेख है, जो वानप्रस्थ धर्म और आगम शास्त्रों के पालन के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। विश्वामित्र, जो 'जयताम् श्रेष्ठ' (विजेताओं में श्रेष्ठ) हैं, इस आश्रम को देखकर स्तब्ध रह जाते हैं। उन्हें यह पृथ्वी का हिस्सा नहीं, बल्कि 'ब्रह्मलोक' (सृष्टिकर्ता का धाम) जैसा प्रतीत होता है। एक राजा का महल भौतिक समृद्धि का शिखर होता है, पर यह आश्रम आध्यात्मिक समृद्धि का शिखर है। विश्वामित्र का इसे देखना उनके जीवन की दिशा बदलने वाला क्षण है।
