सर्वत्र कुशलम् राजा वसिष्ठम् प्रत्युदाहरत् ।
विश्वामित्रो महातेजा वसिष्ठम् विनय अन्वितम् ॥ ॥१-५२-१०॥
Sarvatra kuśalam rājā vasiṣṭham pratyudāharat |
Viśvāmitro mahātejā vasiṣṭham vinaya anvitam ॥1-52-10॥
Translation
The highly resplendent King Vishvamitra replied to Vashistha with great humility, stating that everything was indeed well everywhere.

महातेजस्वी राजा विश्वामित्र ने वसिष्ठ जी को अत्यंत विनम्रतापूर्वक उत्तर दिया कि "सर्वत्र कुशल है।"
English Commentary
Despite being Mahātejā (possessed of great splendor/energy), King Vishvamitra responds vinaya anvitam (filled with humility). This juxtaposition of power and humility is a core value in the Ramayana. It illustrates the correct protocol for a King addressing a Sage. In the Vedic hierarchy, the spiritual wisdom of the Brahmin was accorded higher respect than the temporal power of the Kshatriya. Vishvamitra’s concise reply validates that he acknowledges Vashistha’s superiority in the spiritual domain. It also shows that Vishvamitra, at this stage, is a righteous king who has nothing to hide regarding his administration; he can confidently assert that all is well. This humility serves as a prelude to the conflict that follows, highlighting the tragedy of how desire (for Kamadhenu) can later strip away such humility.
