बाढम् इति एव गाधेयो वसिष्ठम् प्रत्युवाच ह ।
यथा प्रियम् भगवतः तथा अस्तु मुनि सत्तम ॥१-५२-१९॥
Bāḍham iti eva gādheyo vasiṣṭham pratyuvāca ha |
Yathā priyam bhagavataḥ tathā astu muni sattama ॥1-52-19॥
Translation
Finally, the son of Gadhi (Vishvamitra) replied to Vashistha saying, "Baadham" (Very well). "O best of Munis, let it be as it pleases you."
हिंदी अनुवाद
अंततः गाधि पुत्र (विश्वामित्र) ने 'बाढम्' (बहुत अच्छा/स्वीकार है), ऐसा कहकर वसिष्ठ जी को उत्तर दिया। उन्होंने कहा, "हे मुनिश्रेष्ठ! जैसा भगवान (आप) को प्रिय हो, वैसा ही हो।"
English Commentary
Vishvamitra capitulates with the word Bāḍham (an affirmative 'Very well' or 'So be it'). His statement "Let it be as it pleases you" (yathā priyam bhagavataḥ) reflects the etiquette of yielding to a host's intense desire to serve. By addressing Vashistha as Muni sattama (Best of Munis), Vishvamitra acknowledges the sage's authority. At this juncture, Vishvamitra displays trust; he likely wonders how the logistics of feeding an Akshauhini (vast army) will be handled in a forest, but he respects the Sage enough not to question the method, simply accepting the invitation. This compliance sets the stage for the revelation of the divine cow.

'बाढम्' संस्कृत में स्वीकृति का एक औपचारिक और सम्मानजनक शब्द है। विश्वामित्र यहाँ पूर्ण समर्पण कर देते हैं। वे कहते हैं, "यथा प्रियम् भगवतः" (जैसा आपको प्रिय हो)। यह एक अतिथि का धर्म है कि यदि मेजबान अत्यधिक आग्रह करे, तो उसके प्रेम का मान रखने के लिए अपनी जिद्द छोड़ देनी चाहिए। विश्वामित्र यहाँ वसिष्ठ को 'मुनि सत्तम' (मुनियों में श्रेष्ठ) कह रहे हैं। यह संवाद दर्शाता है कि उस समय तक दोनों के बीच कितना गहरा सम्मान था। विश्वामित्र को अभी भी यह नहीं पता है कि जंगल के बीचों-बीच पूरी सेना के लिए भोजन कैसे आएगा, फिर भी वे ऋषि के वचन पर विश्वास करके रुक जाते हैं।
