स्वागतम् तव च इति उक्तो वसिष्ठेन महात्मना ।
आसनम् च अस्य भगवान् वसिष्ठो व्यादिदेश ह ॥ ॥१-५२-२॥
svāgatam tava ca iti ukto vasiṣṭhena mahātmanā |
āsanam ca asya bhagavān vasiṣṭho vyādideśa ha ॥1-52-2॥
Translation
"Welcome to you," said the high-souled Vashistha to him. And the reverend Vashistha offered a seat to him (Vishwamitra).

महात्मा वसिष्ठ ने भी उनसे "आपका स्वागत है," ऐसा कहा। और भगवान वसिष्ठ ने उन्हें (विश्वामित्र को) बैठने के लिए आसन प्रदान किया।
English Commentary
Vashistha reciprocates the courtesy perfectly. He verbally welcomes the King ('Swagatam tava') and offers him a seat ('asanam'). The use of the honorific 'Bhagavan' for Vashistha underscores his god-like status and authority in the ashram. The interaction is formal and gracious, typical of Vedic etiquette where a Brahmin sage honors a Kshatriya king, and the King honors the Sage. This mutual respect forms the baseline from which the relationship will dramatically deviate.

एक आदर्श आतिथेय (host) की तरह महर्षि वसिष्ठ राजा का स्वागत करते हैं। वे केवल औपचारिक स्वागत नहीं करते, बल्कि उन्हें उचित सम्मान देते हुए आसन भी प्रदान करते हैं। यहाँ वसिष्ठ के लिए 'भगवान' शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है जो उनके ऐश्वर्य और पूजनीय स्थिति को दर्शाता है। ऋषि और राजा के मिलन में दोनों ओर से मर्यादा का पालन किया जा रहा है। यह शांतिपूर्ण आरंभ आगे होने वाले तूफानी संघर्ष के ठीक विपरीत है।
