प्रतिगृह्य तु ताम् पूजाम् वसिष्ठात् राज सत्तमः ।
तपो अग्नि होत्र शिष्येषु कुशलम् पर्यपृच्छत ॥ ॥१-५२-४॥
pratigṛhya tu tām pūjām vasiṣṭhāt rāja sattamaḥ |
tapo agni hotra śiṣyeṣu kuśalam paryapṛcchata ॥1-52-4॥
Translation
The best of kings (Vishwamitra) accepted that worship (hospitality) from Vashistha and then inquired about the welfare of his penance, fire rituals, and disciples.

राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ (विश्वामित्र) ने वसिष्ठ से उस पूजा (सत्कार) को ग्रहण किया और फिर उनकी तपस्या, अग्निहोत्र और शिष्यों की कुशलता पूछी।
English Commentary
Vishwamitra graciously accepts the hospitality ('pratigrhya tam pujam'). As a 'Rajasattamah' (best among kings), he knows the appropriate inquiries to make of a sage. He does not ask about material wealth but asks about 'tapo agni hotra' (penance and fire sacrifices) and the welfare of the 'shishyeshu' (disciples). This reinforces the cultural priority where the smooth conduct of spiritual duties is considered the true measure of a sage's well-being. The scene is calm, rational, and respectful.

आतिथ्य ग्रहण करने के बाद, शिष्टाचार के नाते राजा विश्वामित्र ऋषि से उनकी कुशलता पूछते हैं। ऋषियों से उनकी 'सेहत' नहीं, बल्कि उनके धर्म-कर्म के बारे में पूछा जाता है। इसलिए विश्वामित्र ने 'तप', 'अग्निहोत्र' (यज्ञ) और 'शिष्यों' के निर्विघ्न होने के बारे में प्रश्न किया। 'राज सत्तमः' (राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ) शब्द बताता है कि विश्वामित्र को पता है कि एक ब्राह्मण और ऋषि से क्या बात करनी चाहिए। यह संवाद अभी अत्यंत सौहार्दपूर्ण है।
