Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् उक्ता वसिष्ठेन शबला शत्रु सूदन ।
विदधे कामधुक् कामान् यस्य यस्य ईप्सितम् यथा ॥१-५३-१॥
Evam uktā vasiṣṭhena śabalā śatru sūdana |
Vidadhe kāmadhuk kāmān yasya yasya īpsitam yathā ॥1-53-1॥
Translation
(O Rama, destroyer of enemies!) Thus commanded by Vashistha, Shabala, the yielder of desires, produced whatever was desired by anyone, exactly as they wished.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(हे शत्रुसूदन राम!) वसिष्ठ जी के ऐसा कहने पर, कामनाओं को पूरा करने वाली कामधेनु शबला ने, जिसे जो भी अभिलषित (ईप्सित) था, वह सब उत्पन्न कर दिया।
English Commentary
Here, the title Kāmadhuk is actualized. Shabala fulfills the desires (kāmān) of every individual exactly as wished (yathā īpsitam). This implies a psychic or omniscient capability of the cow to know the hunger and preference of each soldier and animal in Vishvamitra's retinue. The address Shatru sudana (Destroyer of enemies) is directed at Rama by the narrator (Shatananda/Valmiki), reminding the listener of the martial context. The verse emphasizes efficiency and precision—Shabala did not just create random food, but exactly what each specific person craved.

यह श्लोक क्रियान्वयन (execution) का है। ऋषि का आदेश मिलते ही शबला ने परिणाम दे दिया। 'यस्य यस्य ईप्सितम् यथा'—यह वाक्यांश बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका अर्थ है 'टेलीपैथिक' सेवा। गाय ने सैनिकों के मन को पढ़ा और जिसे जो चाहिए था, वह उसके सामने प्रकट कर दिया। यह आतिथ्य सत्कार का सर्वोच्च स्तर है जहाँ अतिथि को मांगना नहीं पड़ता। 'शत्रु सूदन' संबोधन राम के लिए है, जो इस कथा को सुन रहे हैं। कथा में गति है—वसिष्ठ का आदेश और शबला का तत्काल पालन। यह कामधेनु की असीम शक्ति का पहला प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण है।
