राजन् दास्यामि शबलाम् राशिभी रजतस्य वा ।
न परित्यागम् अर्हा इयम् मत् सकाशात् अरिन्दम ॥१-५३-१२॥
Rājan dāsyāmi śabalām rāśibhī rajatasya vā |
Na parityāgam arhā iyam mat sakāśāt arindama ॥1-53-12॥
Translation
"O King! I will not give Shabala even in exchange for heaps of silver. O destroyer of foes! She does not deserve to be abandoned or separated from me."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे राजन्! चाँदी के ढेरों (राशि) के बदले भी मैं शबला को नहीं दूंगा। हे अरिन्दम (शत्रुदमन)! यह मेरे पास से त्यागे जाने (परित्याग) योग्य नहीं है।" (अर्थात् यह मुझसे अलग नहीं हो सकती)।
English Commentary
Vashistha clarifies that no amount of precious metal (rajatasya - silver) can sway him. The key philosophical point is na parityāgam arhā—she is not capable of being abandoned. This implies an organic, inseparable bond between the Sage and the Power of Truth (represented by the Cow). Giving her away would be an act of betrayal (parityāga). Vashistha stands firm that some things in life are sacred and inalienable, regardless of the buyer's power or the price offered.
हिंदी टीका
वसिष्ठ जी स्पष्ट करते हैं कि समस्या 'कीमत' (price) नहीं है। चाहे गायें हों या चाँदी के पहाड़, वे शबला को नहीं देंगे। मुख्य वाक्यांश है—"न परित्यागम् अर्हा" (यह त्यागने योग्य नहीं है)। वसिष्ठ और शबला का संबंध स्वामी और सेवक का नहीं, बल्कि अभिन्न अंगों जैसा है। 'मत् सकाशात्' (मेरे पास से) का अर्थ है मेरे अस्तित्व से। वसिष्ठ जी विश्वामित्र को 'अरिन्दम' (शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाला) कहते हैं, मानो चेतावनी दे रहे हों कि आप बाहरी शत्रुओं को जीत सकते हैं, लेकिन यहाँ (मेरे आश्रम में) आपका बल नहीं चलेगा।
