नियुङ्क्ष्व माम् महातेजः त्वत् ब्रह्म बल संभृताम् ।
तस्य दर्पम् बलम् यत्नम् नाशयामि दुरात्मनः ॥१-५४-१६॥
niyuṅkṣva mām mahātejaḥ tvat brahma bala saṃbhṛtām |
tasya darpam balam yatnam nāśayāमि durātmanaḥ ॥1-54-16॥
Translation
Command me, O One of Great Radiance! Filled with your Brahmanical power, I will destroy the pride, the strength, and the efforts of that wicked-minded one.

हे महातेजस्वी! आप मुझे आज्ञा (नियुक्त) दीजिये। आपके ब्रह्मबल से परिपूर्ण होकर, मैं उस दुरात्मा (विश्वामित्र) के घमंड, बल और प्रयासों का नाश कर दूँगी।
English Commentary
The climax of this dialogue is Shabala's request for niyoga (command/authorization). She addresses Vashistha as Mahātejaḥ, affirming his superior status. Crucially, she states she is tvat brahma bala saṃbhṛtām—sustained and filled by his spiritual power. This signifies that she acts as a conduit for his Tapasya. Her objective is comprehensive: she intends to destroy not just the King's balam (army/force), but his yatnam (efforts/schemes) and, most importantly, his darpam (arrogance). Calling Vishvamitra durātmanaḥ (wicked-souled) confirms that his desire to seize a sage's cow is a moral transgression that warrants a forceful, divine response.

अंतिम श्लोक में शबला कार्यवाई के लिए अनुमति मांगती है। 'नियुङ्क्ष्व माम्' (मुझे नियुक्त करें/आज्ञा दें) - यह दर्शाता है कि शक्ति (शबला) सदैव ज्ञान/तप (वसिष्ठ) के नियंत्रण में ही कार्य करती है। वह स्वयं को 'त्वत् ब्रह्म बल संभृताम्' कहती है, जिसका अर्थ है कि वह अपनी शक्ति से नहीं, बल्कि वसिष्ठ के तपोबल से भरकर ही युद्ध करेगी। विश्वामित्र को यहाँ 'दुरात्मनः' (दुष्ट आत्मा वाला) कहा गया है क्योंकि उसने लोभ वश धर्म का त्याग किया है। शबला केवल सेना का नाश नहीं करना चाहती, बल्कि उसके 'दर्प' (अहंकार) का नाश करना चाहती है, जो इस पूरे संघर्ष का मूल कारण है।
