निर्धूय ताम् तदा भृत्यान् शतशः शत्रुसूदन ।
जगाम अनिल वेगेन पाद मूलम् महात्मनः ॥१-५४-६॥
nirdhūya tām tadā bhṛtyān śataśaḥ śatrusūdana |
jagāma anila vegena pāda mūlam mahātmanaḥ ॥1-54-6॥
Translation
O Destroyer of Enemies (Rama)! Shaking off those hundreds of servants, she then ran with the speed of the wind to the feet of the high-souled one (Vashistha).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे शत्रुसूदन (राम)! तब उस शबला ने उन सैकड़ों सेवकों (सैनिकों) को झटक दिया और वायु के समान तीव्र वेग से महात्मा (वसिष्ठ) के चरणों में पहुँच गई।
English Commentary
Here, the narrator addresses Rama as Shatrusudana (Destroyer of Foes), creating a contextual link between the listener and the heroic narrative. The verse highlights Shabala's supernatural strength; despite being physically restrained by hundreds of the King's soldiers, she shakes them off effortlessly. The metaphor anila vegena (speed of wind) emphasizes her desperation and unstoppable momentum. Significantly, she does not run to escape into the wild but rushes specifically to the pada mulam (root of the feet) of the Mahatma. This physical positioning symbolizes absolute surrender and the seeking of sanctuary. It illustrates that for a devoted soul, the only safety lies at the feet of the master.
