यानी देवेषु च अस्त्राणि दानवेषु महर्षिषु ।
गंधर्व यक्ष रक्षस्सु प्रतिभांतु मम अनघ ॥१-५५-१७॥
yāni deveṣu ca astrāṇi dānaveṣu maharṣiṣu |
gandharva yakṣa rakṣassu pratibhāntu mama anagha ॥1-55-17॥
Translation
O Sinless One! Whatever celestial weapons (Astras) exist among Devas, Danavas, Maharishis, Gandharvas, Yakshas, and Rakshasas—may they all be revealed to me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे अनघ! देवताओं, दानवों, महर्षियों, गंधर्वों, यक्षों और राक्षसों के पास जितने भी अस्त्र हैं, वे सब मुझे स्फुरित हो जाएँ (प्राप्त हो जाएँ)।
English Commentary
The scope of Vishvamitra's request is universal. He lists every class of being known to possess power: Devas (gods), Danavas (demons), Maharishis (sages), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), Yakshas (nature spirits), and Rakshasas (ogres). He desires the Astras specific to each group. This "collect them all" approach signifies his desperation to find a weakness in Vashistha's defense. By asking that they pratibhāntu (flash forth/reveal themselves) to his mind, he seeks intuitive mastery over the entire spectrum of cosmic weaponry, from the holiest to the most terrible.

विश्वामित्र की महत्वाकांक्षा यहाँ असीम दिखाई देती है। वे ब्रह्मांड के किसी भी कोने में उपलब्ध हर प्रकार के अस्त्र का ज्ञान चाहते हैं। चाहे वह सात्विक (देव, महर्षि) हों या तामसिक (दानव, राक्षस), वे सब चाहते हैं। 'प्रतिभांतु' (स्फुरित हों/प्रकट हों) शब्द का प्रयोग किया है, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे इन अस्त्रों के ज्ञान को अपनी बुद्धि में धारण करना चाहते हैं। यह 'सर्व-शस्त्र-संपन्न' बनने की चाह है ताकि वसिष्ठ के ब्रह्मदंड के विरुद्ध कोई न कोई अस्त्र काम आ सके। यह तैयारी एक महायुद्ध की है।
