वदतो वै वसिष्ठस्य मा भै इति मुहुर्मुहुः ।
नाशयामि अद्य गाधेयम् नीहारम् इव भास्करः ॥ ॥१-५५-२५॥
Vadato vai vasiṣṭhasya mā bhai iti muhurmuhuḥ |
Nāśayāmi adya gādheyam nīhāram iva bhāskaraḥ ॥1-55-25॥
Translation
While Vasistha was repeatedly saying, 'Do not fear,' he declared, 'I shall destroy this son of Gadhi today, just as the sun destroys the mist.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
वसिष्ठ जी बार-बार 'डरो मत, डरो मत' कह रहे थे। (उन्होंने कहा) 'आज मैं गाधिपुत्र (विश्वामित्र) का वैसे ही नाश कर दूँगा, जैसे सूर्य कोहरे (धुंध) का नाश कर देता है।'
English Commentary
Amidst the panic, Vasistha stands as a pillar of stability. His repeated reassurance of 'Ma bhai' (Fear not) to his fleeing disciples reveals his protective nature. The metaphor used here is profound: Vishvamitra is compared to Nihara (mist/fog) and Vasistha to Bhaskara (the Sun). Mist may obscure the world and appear overwhelming, but it has no substance against the sun; it simply evaporates. Vasistha asserts that despite Vishvamitra's noisy and flashy weapons, his spiritual radiance will effortlessly dispel the aggression.

यहाँ वसिष्ठ के चरित्र की दृढ़ता और गुरुत्व का दर्शन होता है। घोर संकट में भी वे अपने शिष्यों को 'मा भै' (डरो मत) कहकर आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं। उनकी प्रतिज्ञा में क्रोध नहीं, बल्कि आत्मविश्वास और धर्म का बल है। उपमा 'नीहारम् इव भास्करः' अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। कोहरा (mist) स्थान तो बहुत घेरता है और दृश्यता को रोकता है, लेकिन सूर्य की एक किरण के सामने उसका कोई अस्तित्व नहीं रहता। वसिष्ठ यह कह रहे हैं कि विश्वामित्र का यह आडंबर और अस्त्र-बल कोहरे जैसा क्षणभंगुर है, जो उनके ब्रह्मतेज (सूर्य) के सामने नहीं टिकेगा।
