एवम् उक्त्वा महातेजा वसिष्ठो जपताम् वरः ।
विश्वामित्रम् तदा वाक्यम् स रोषम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥१-५५-२६॥
Evam uktvā mahātejā vasiṣṭho japatām varaḥ |
Viśvāmitram tadā vākyam sa roṣam idam abravīt ॥1-55-26॥
Translation
Having spoken thus, Vasistha, the possessed of great luster and the best among those who mutter prayers, addressed Vishvamitra with anger in his words.

ऐसा कहकर, जप करने वालों में श्रेष्ठ, महातेजस्वी वसिष्ठ ने तब विश्वामित्र से रोषपूर्वक यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Even the calmest sage can be roused to righteous anger when Dharma is threatened. Vasistha is described as japatam varah (best among those who recite mantras), emphasizing that his power is derived from sound, vibration, and spiritual discipline. He addresses Vishvamitra with sarosham (with anger), but this is a controlled, purposeful indignation necessary to confront the aggressor. The narrative shifts focus to the direct confrontation between the two iconic figures.
