आश्रमम् चिर संवृद्धम् यत् विनाशितवान् असि ।
दुराचारो हि यत् मूढ तस्मात् त्वम् न भविष्यसि ॥ ॥१-५५-२७॥
Āśramam cira saṃvṛddham yat vināśitavān asi |
Durācāro hi yat mūḍha tasmāt tvam na bhaviṣyasi ॥1-55-27॥
Translation
O fool! Since you have destroyed this hermitage that has been nurtured for a long time, and because your conduct is wicked, therefore, you shall cease to exist.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"रे मूढ! चूँकि तूने इस दीर्घकाल से संवर्धित (बढ़ाए गए) आश्रम का विनाश किया है और दुराचार किया है, इसलिए अब तू नहीं रहेगा (तेरा अस्तित्व समाप्त हो जाएगा)।"
English Commentary
Vasistha delivers a scathing indictment of Vishvamitra. He calls him Mudha (deluded fool) for failing to recognize the sanctity of the place. The phrase cira samvriddham (nurtured/grown over a long time) highlights the tragedy of destroying something ancient and sacred in a moment of rage. The final pronouncement, 'You shall not be' (na bhavishyasi), is an existential threat. It is the ultimate assertiveness of the Brahmana against the Kshatriya's aggression, declaring that such durachara (wicked conduct) warrants complete destruction.
