शक्ति द्वयम् च चिक्षेप कंकालम् मुसलम् तथा ।
वैद्याधरम् महाअस्त्रम् च कालास्त्रम् अथ दारुणम् ॥ ॥१-५६-११॥
Śakti dvayam ca cikṣepa kaṃkālam musalam tathā |
Vaidyādharam mahāastram ca kālāstram atha dāruṇam ॥1-56-11॥
Translation
He hurled two Shaktis (spears), the Kankala, the Musala (pestle), the great weapon of the Vidyadharas, and the terrible Kala-astra.

उन्होंने दो शक्ति (बरछी), कंकाल, मूसल, विद्याधरों का महाअस्त्र, और भयानक कालास्त्र चलाया।
English Commentary
The barrage continues with heavy projectile and blunt force weapons like Shakti and Musala (pestle/club). The Vaidyadhara weapon implies magical or sorcerous properties. The Kala-astra returns to the theme of death and time. The relentlessness of the attack is palpable. Vishvamitra is throwing everything he has—literal heavy objects, magical spells, and abstract forces of time—hoping that sheer volume and variety will overwhelm the sage's defenses.

'शक्ति' एक प्रकार का भाला है जो कभी खाली नहीं जाता। 'कंकाल' और 'मूसल' जैसे अस्त्रों का नाम डरावना और भारी प्रहार करने वाला है। 'वैद्याधरम्' अस्त्र गंधर्वों/विद्याधरों की मायावी शक्ति से युक्त है। 'कालास्त्र' साक्षात मृत्यु है। अस्त्रों की यह अंतहीन श्रृंखला वाल्मीकि जी द्वारा रची गई है ताकि पाठक यह समझ सकें कि विश्वामित्र निहत्थे नहीं थे, वे पूरी तरह सुसज्जित 'सुपरपावर' थे। इसके बावजूद वसिष्ठ का बाल भी बांका न होना, वसिष्ठ की महिमा को अनंत गुना बढ़ा देता है।
