वसिष्ठे जपताम् श्रेष्ठे तद् अद्भुतम् इव अभवत् ।
तानि सर्वाणि दण्डेन ग्रसते ब्रह्मणः सुतः ॥ ॥१-५६-१३॥
Vasiṣṭhe japatām śreṣṭhe tad adbhutam iva abhavat |
Tāni sarvāṇi daṇḍena grasate brahmaṇaḥ sutaḥ ॥1-56-13॥
Translation
Then, a miracle occurred regarding Vasistha, the best among those who chant. The son of Brahma swallowed all those weapons with his staff.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब जप करने वालों में श्रेष्ठ वसिष्ठ के साथ एक अद्भुत घटना घटी। ब्रह्मा के पुत्र (वसिष्ठ) ने उन सभी अस्त्रों को अपने (ब्रह्म) दंड से निगल लिया (ग्रस लिया)।
English Commentary
The resolution of this intense bombardment is instantaneous and miraculous (adbhutam). The verb grasate (swallows/devours) is powerful imagery—the Brahmadanda consumes the energy of all the celestial weapons without exploding or breaking. Vasistha is identified as the son of Brahma, reinforcing his direct connection to the source of creation, which supersedes the derived powers of the weapons. This moment definitively proves the superiority of spiritual grounding over aggressive accumulation of power.

यह इस सर्ग का चरमोत्कर्ष (Climax) है। यहाँ 'अद्भुतम्' (चमत्कार) शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है। सैकड़ों दिव्य और भयानक अस्त्र, जो तीनों लोकों को भस्म कर सकते थे, उन्हें वसिष्ठ की एक लकड़ी की लाठी ने 'ग्रसते' (निगल लिया/खा लिया)। यहाँ वसिष्ठ को 'ब्रह्मणः सुतः' (ब्रह्मा का पुत्र) कहा गया है, जो उनकी उत्पत्ति और सामर्थ्य की याद दिलाता है। यह दृश्य केवल भौतिक नहीं, बल्कि आध्यात्मिक है—सत्य सभी प्रकार के प्रहारों को अपने भीतर समाहित कर लेता है और फिर भी अक्षुण्ण रहता है।
