देव ऋषयः च संभ्रांता गंधर्वाः स महा उरगाः ।
त्रैलोक्यम् आसीत् संत्रस्तम् ब्रह्मास्त्रे समुदीरिते ॥ ॥१-५६-१५॥
Deva ṛṣayaḥ ca saṃbhrāntā gandharvāḥ sa mahā uragāḥ |
Trailokyam āsīt saṃtrastam brahmāstre samudīrite ॥ ॥1-56-15॥
Translation
As the Brahmastra was unleashed, the gods, sages, Gandharvas, and mighty serpents were bewildered. The three worlds were struck with terror.

ब्रह्मास्त्र के चलाए जाने पर देव, ऋषि, गंधर्व और बड़े-बड़े नाग घबरा गए। तीनों लोक अत्यंत भयभीत हो उठे।
English Commentary
The text emphasizes the universal collateral damage of the Brahmastra. It is not just a weapon; it is a cosmic disturbance. The fear pervades all strata of existence—from the celestial (Devas/Gandharvas) to the terrestrial and subterranean (Uragas/Serpents). The phrase Trailokyam asit santrastam (the three worlds were terrified) validates Vasistha's intervention; he is not just protecting his ashram anymore, but the stability of the universe itself.

ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रयोग केवल दो व्यक्तियों के बीच का युद्ध नहीं रहता, यह 'त्रैलोक्यम्' (तीनों लोकों: स्वर्ग, पृथ्वी, पाताल) को प्रभावित करता है। यहाँ गंधर्वों और नागों (महा उरगाः) का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि आकाश और पाताल के निवासी भी सुरक्षित नहीं थे। 'संभ्रांता' (भ्रमित/घबराए हुए) शब्द दर्शाता है कि प्रकृति का संतुलन बिगड़ रहा था। विश्वामित्र का अहंकार अब विश्व शांति के लिए खतरा बन चुका था।
