तत् अपि अस्त्रम् महाघोरम् ब्राह्मम् ब्राह्मेण तेजसा ।
वसिष्ठो ग्रसते सर्वम् ब्रह्म दण्डेन राघव ॥ ॥१-५६-१६॥
Tat api astram mahāghoram brāhmam brāhmeṇa tejasā |
Vasiṣṭho grasate sarvam brahma daṇḍena rāghava ॥1-56-16॥
Translation
O Raghava! Vasistha, by his spiritual radiance, completely swallowed even that terribly formidable Brahmastra with his Brahmadanda.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राघव! वसिष्ठ जी ने अपने ब्रह्मतेज से उस महाभयानक ब्रह्मास्त्र को भी ब्रह्मदंड के द्वारा पूर्णतः ग्रस (निगल) लिया।
English Commentary
This is the decisive moment. The Brahmastra, usually unstoppable, meets its match in the Brahma-teja (spiritual radiance) of a realized sage. Vasistha doesn't counter-attack; he absorbs. By swallowing the weapon with his staff, he demonstrates that the power of realization (Brahma-jnana) is the ultimate container for all energy, no matter how destructive. It signifies that true spirituality can metabolize the harsh realities of the world without being destroyed.

यह असंभव प्रतीत होने वाली घटना है। ब्रह्मास्त्र, जिसका कोई काट नहीं है, उसे वसिष्ठ ने 'ग्रसते' (खा लिया/निगल लिया)। यहाँ 'ब्राह्मम् ब्राह्मेण तेजसा' का प्रयोग बहुत सुंदर है—ब्रह्मा के अस्त्र को ब्रह्म के तेज (आत्मबल) से ही शांत किया जा सकता है। लोहे को लोहा काटता है, लेकिन यहाँ भौतिक विनाशक शक्ति को आध्यात्मिक सृजनात्मक शक्ति ने अपने भीतर समाहित कर लिया। 'राघव' संबोधन राम का ध्यान इस अद्भुत विजय की ओर खींचता है।
