ब्रह्म अस्त्रम् ग्रसमानस्य वसिष्ठस्य महात्मनः ।
त्रैलोक्य मोहनम् रौद्रम् रूपम् आसीत् सुदारुणम् ॥ ॥१-५६-१७॥
Brahma astram grasamānasya vasiṣṭhasya mahātmanaḥ |
Trailokya mohanam raudram rūpam āsīt sudāruṇam ॥1-56-17॥
Translation
While swallowing the Brahmastra, the form of the great-souled Vasistha became terrible, awe-inspiring, and bewildering to the three worlds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ब्रह्मास्त्र को निगलते समय महात्मा वसिष्ठ का रूप तीनों लोकों को मोहित (स्तंभित) करने वाला, रौद्र (भयानक) और अत्यंत दारुण हो गया।
English Commentary
Absorption of toxic energy has a visible effect. Even though Vasistha is the victor, the act of containing the Brahmastra transforms his appearance from a gentle sage into a terrifying cosmic entity (Raudram). This visual change represents the sheer magnitude of the energy he is processing. It serves as a warning: the capacity to hold peace requires a terrifying amount of inner strength.

यद्यपि वसिष्ठ शांत स्वभाव के हैं, किन्तु इतनी विशाल ऊर्जा (ब्रह्मास्त्र) को अपने भीतर धारण करने पर उनका शरीर तप्त हो गया। उनका रूप 'रौद्र' (शिव जैसा भयानक) हो गया। यह दिखाता है कि शक्ति को धारण करना (Containment) भी एक सक्रिय और तीव्र प्रक्रिया है। 'त्रैलोक्य मोहनम्' का अर्थ है कि उनका यह स्वरूप देखकर सब अचेत या विस्मित हो गए। साधु का क्रोध या तेज जब जागता है, तो वह प्रलयंकर हो सकता है।
