इदम् जगाद भद्रम् ते राजानम् घोर दर्शनम् ।
किम् आगमन कार्यम् ते राजपुत्र महाबल ॥ ॥१-५७-१५॥
Idam jagāda bhadram te rājānam ghora darśanam |
Kim āgamana kāryam te rājaputra mahābala ॥1-57-15॥
Translation
He spoke this to the King of terrible sight: "May well-being be yours. O Prince of great strength! What is the purpose of your arrival?"

उन्होंने भयंकर रूप वाले राजा से ये वचन कहे— "तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। हे महाबली राजकुमार! तुम्हारे आने का क्या प्रयोजन है?"
English Commentary
Vishwamitra addresses the King with immense respect, using the honorifics Rājaputra Mahābala (Prince of great strength), completely ignoring the visible Chandala form. This contrasts sharply with the Vashistha lineage's harsh rejection. By focusing on the King's inherent Kshatriya nature, Vishwamitra validates his status despite the curse. The polite inquiry about the purpose of his arrival establishes a clear, supportive ground for Trishanku, signaling that Vishwamitra is willing to listen and potentially aid him, regardless of the severity of his plight.

विश्वामित्र का सम्बोधन राजा के प्रति सम्मान दर्शाता है, भले ही राजा का रूप 'घोर दर्शनम्' (भयंकर रूप वाला) हो गया है। 'राजपुत्र महाबल' का प्रयोग करके विश्वामित्र राजा के वास्तविक स्वरूप (क्षत्रियत्व) को चाण्डाल रूप से ऊपर मानते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि शाप केवल बाहरी है, जबकि उसका बल और वंश अजर है। 'भद्रम् ते' (तुम्हारा कल्याण हो) कहकर वे एक तरह से राजा को आश्वस्त करते हैं कि वह अब सुरक्षित शरण में है। यह प्रश्न विनम्रतापूर्वक राजा को अपनी व्यथा और अपनी असंभव इच्छा को स्पष्ट करने का अवसर देता है।
