अवमानम् कथम् कर्तुम् तस्य शक्षायामहे वयम् ।
तेषाम् तद् वचनम् श्रुत्वा क्रोध पर्याकुल अक्षरम् ॥ ॥१-५७-६॥
Avamānam katham kartum tasya śakṣyāmahe vayam |
Teṣām tad vacanam śrutvā krodha paryākula akṣaram ॥1-57-6॥

"हम उनका (वशिष्ठ का) अपमान कैसे कर सकते हैं?" उनके (ऋषि पुत्रों के) क्रोध से भरे इन वचनों को सुनकर... (त्रिशंकु ने उत्तर दिया)।
English Commentary
This verse captures the peak of the sons' indignation. To them, conducting the Yajna would be a direct insult (Avamanam) to their father. It highlights the rigid ethical code of the chaotic family structure where the father’s word is law. The description of their speech as Krodha-paryakula (agitated with anger) indicates that the conversation has moved past negotiation. They are insulted that the King implies they would betray their father for him. This sets a tense atmosphere, preparing the reader for Trishanku’s retort which will seal his fate.

यह श्लोक संवाद की दिशा बदलता है। ऋषि पुत्रों के लिए पिता की आज्ञा के विरुद्ध यज्ञ करना पिता का 'अवमान' (अपमान) है। यहाँ उनकी वफादारी स्पष्ट है। दूसरी पंक्ति में राजा की प्रतिक्रिया की भूमिका बांधी गई है। 'क्रोध पर्याकुल अक्षरम्' दर्शाता है कि ऋषि पुत्रों की वाणी अब शांत उपदेशात्मक नहीं रही, बल्कि उसमें क्रोध का आवेश आ गया है। वे राजा के बार-बार आग्रह को धृष्टता मान रहे हैं। यह स्थिति अब केवल एक संवाद नहीं रही, बल्कि एक संघर्ष का रूप ले रही है जहाँ एक ओर ऋषियों का क्रोध है और दूसरी ओर राजा की हठधर्मिता।
